All About Fiddleheads (Maine’s Springtime Delicacy)
with Kelly Hodgkins, Western Foothills Land Trust
Join Kelly Hodgkins from Western Foothills Land Trust as we learn how to identify the fiddleheads of the tasty Ostrich fern and prepare them into a delicious side dish. Harvested in the early spring, fiddleheads are a Maine delicacy. Finding and preparing the young fronds of the Ostrich fern can be a challenge. We will go outside to forage for fiddleheads and sauté them on site, weather permitting. If the weather is inclement, we will bring our class indoors into the Harper Center Conference room with pre-picked fiddleheads to aid with identification and an inside cooking class.
Please note: If brought indoors, the class will be an hour and a half.
Outside Class time will be: 9am-12pm-Meet at Ripley Medical Building parking Lot (carpooling recommended)
Indoor Class time will be: 9am-10:30am in the Ripley Medical Building, Harper Conference Center
