Join us for a culinary trip to the Mediterranean- no passport required! The Stephens Memorial Hospital Food Services staff will guide you as they promote a healthy eating plan as well as cultural diversity, highlighting the Mediterranean diet. This class will focus on using some of the essentials of Mediterranean Cooking such as seafood, vegetables, whole grains, herbs and olive oil. Discover some simple flavor-building techniques behind healthy Mediterranean cuisine to bring the delicious tastes to your table while enjoying some samples!

The flow will begin with seated movements warming up the body, standing with Sun salutations & cooling down with relaxing poses. Class will close with a guided meditation. All levels & Beginners welcome! Bring a yoga mat, a blanket or pillow to sit on & a bottle of water to hydrate.

Join SeniorsPlus for a six-week long workshop that teaches real-life skills for living a full, healthy life with a chronic condition. Classes are fun and interactive. The workshop builds confidence around managing health, staying active, and enjoying life. Topics include communication, medication usage, talking with your healthcare provider, physical activity, weight management, and healthy eating. At the end of the workshop, there will be a drawing for a $25 Visa gift card. The more you go, the better your chances of winning. Snacks will be provided each week.

Stars and Planet Hike up Streaked Mountain

Join Stephens Memorial Hospital for a nighttime hike up Streaked Mountain and watch the sunset and the stars and planets appear. Bring your flashlight, headlamps, and sense of adventure for this fun event. Then stay for a night of star and planet gazing with local experts Tom Hoffelder and Josh Davis who will have their telescopes ready and waiting for us. Roasted marshmallows and star-charts included. Weather permitting.

Meet at the Ripley Medical Building Parking Lot to carpool (Carpooling recommended)

PLEASE NOTE: This hike is very dependent on being a cloud free night. In the event too cloudy, we will postpone to Saturday, May 19, same time.

Experience the wonder and beauty of an early spring evening hike. There is peace and tranquility that comes when you hike at night that many are unaware of. Join SMH as we trek up the backside of Streaked Mountain where you will explore nature, catch the sunset and the moonrise. Depending on the weather, you may or may not need snowshoes.

PLEASE NOTE: Weather Permitting, headlamps or flashlights optional.

Carpooling is recommended!  We will meet at the Ripley Medical Bldg. (193 Main St., Norway) parking lot for 5:15pm for anyone who would like to carpool.
