American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR AED

Heartsaver® CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

Fall Kayaking Adventure /North Pond, Woodstock & Greenwood, ME

Exploring nature in a kayak is a healthy and fun way to enjoy the outdoors. Join Stephens Memorial Hospital and Western Foothills Land Trust, as we paddle around North Pond, which offers pleasant views. You will have the possibility of seeing loons, turtles and other wildlife. Meet at boat launch located on Howe Hill Rd., Greenwood. Bring a bagged lunch and make sure to bring water, and sun block. PLEASE NOTE: Kayak's are not provided for this event.

DURING AN EMERGENCY IS NOT THE TIME TO BE FIGURING EVERYTHING OUT!
90% of people will say they've never put their hands on a fire extinguisher and they've never tried to use it.
This course of instruction is not designed to turn participants into firefighters, but rather equip you with the knowledge and skills to detect and extinguish a fire only when it is safe to do so. Join Norway’s Fire Chief, Dennis Yates for potential life-saving tips that could be useful if a fire breaks out in your home. Through hands-on training with fire simulations in a safe learning environment, the professional instructors will educate you on the basics of fire extinguishers, i.e. when and how to use a fire extinguisher, the different types of fire extinguishers, the different types of fires and fire extinguisher maintenance.

Go Fly a Kite! (Kite Flying 101)

Build, decorate and experience the excitement of flying your own kite! Believe it or not, there are tips and tricks to successful kite flying. Join SMH and Terry Robinson of the “ColorTheSky!” kiting group for a brief talk about how the success of kite flying depends on kite style, kiting location, winds speed and wind barriers. In the field, Terry will demonstrate kite-flying tips and provide any needed assistance. This is a great way to get outside, get fresh air and exercise, enjoy good company and have some good old fashion FUN! Please note this is weather permitting.
